"Okay, girls, come here, we're gonna watch one of my favorites!" Kristi yelled, flopping down on the couch rather forcefully, yet still managing to balance her plate, laden with three over-sized slices of pizza. Marcy and Tiffany bolted into the room, jumping onto the couch next to Kristi, yet failing to topple the pizza off the plate. It had been exactly one month since Kristi had begun babysitting the girls, and they were closer than ever. As of lately, they had been more inquisitive to Kristi's tastes, so, as any responsible babysitter would do, Kristi was introducing them to the world of 90's/80's children films. Tonight's selection was none other than Mulan, one of Kristi's most nostalgic films. As they settled into the couch, each of the girls snuggling up next to Kristi, a smile formed on her lips, before they were covered in the grease and cheese of a slice of pizza.
The pizza habit had not dissolved, and as a result, Kristi had experienced some... Undesirable results, to say the least. As of now, she hadn't been forced to buy new clothing, but that was only inevitable. It's a good thing that scrubs are quite stretchy, and that her department had given each student multiple pairs- not only were they comfy, they allowed Kristi to ignore her weight gain as well. All things considered, she had put on at least 10 pounds- an absolute catastrophe for most college aged girls, but Kristi, as of yet, hadn't been forced to face the consequences of her ever changing body, and as such as not fretted nearly as much as most girls would have.
"Mmm... Isn't this a pretty movie, girls?" Kristi managed to get out in between bites. Both girls nodded in agreement, snuggled up warmly on each of Kristi's thighs. Kristi watched in wonderment at the hand-drawn movie, feeling more and more wistful towards the "classic" age of animation, before all the CG nonsense that now permeated every aspect of children's television. Taking a larger bite of the second slice of pizza than any of the prior, Kristi tried to focus on the movie, not how much her panties seemed to be cutting into her thighs or waist.
Kristi had eaten all three slices within the first twenty minutes of the movie, and by the time the dramatic conclusion was finally coming around, she was hungry again. And although she longed for another slice of pizza, or a few bread sticks, she was unable to rouse either of the sleeping sisters from their slumber on the couch. And so, she sat transfixed upon the television screen, watching as the Huns were defeated, Mulan was accepted, and Mushu was granted ancestor status. As the ending credits began to roll ("Along with that campy R&B pop song drivel" Kristi thought to herself), Kristi roused the two girls from their sleep. "Come on girls, you've gotta get to bed!" She proclaimed, cheerfully.
"Awww, do we have to?" Tiffany asked sleepily, rubbing her eyes.
"Yes, I'm afraid. Come on, up we go!" Kristi said, standing up with a grunt, before pulling each girl up with her. After following them upstairs and making sure they brushed their teeth, Kristi tucked each girl into bed, along with a cheerful proclamation of "Goodnight!" before heading back downstairs, to the kitchen. There sat before her, her longing desire, the leftovers. Although her appetite had increased severely since she began the babysitting gig, Kristi still had managed to refrain from ordering more than a pizza and bread sticks every night... Although the urge was becoming stronger every week.
Kristi's belly jiggled slightly, in the way that a not-quite-yet-chubby-but-still-not-skinny tummy tends to as she eagerly ate a slice of room temperature pizza, bouncing on her heels happily as she chewed. While eight slices of pizza, plus bread sticks, had been more than enough initially for her and the girls, it now was barely enough to get her through the evening. While she sincerely appreciated being able to keep the change on top of her payment, the temptation of ordering a second pizza, or more bread sticks, was becoming more and more tempting with every passing night.
As Kristi picked up the seventh slice, she tugged at her t-shirt, a pointless attempt to cover her ever-growing stomach, which had begun to curve outwards rather than inwards over the past month- an absolute first for the college student. The seventh slice was finished as quickly as the sixth, and Kristi rummaged through the cupboard for a moment before producing a plate. Loading it up not only with the remaining slice, but also with the remaining two bread sticks, Kristi made her way to the dining table, where her backpack lay, untouched since the beginning of the evening. Opening the zipper, she pulled out her homework- completely undone since it had been assigned.
"If I'm going to do this, I'm going to need some caffeine... I'm way behind!" Hopping up from the table, Kristi darted to the kitchen, pouring a tall glass of lemon-lime flavored soda, before returning to the desk, the massive 32 oz. novelty cup clenched in her hand (some promo from a movie she had never heard of). Taking a larger sip than necessary, Kristi began to go over her homework.
Susan & Tom opened the front door quietly. This was due to the fact that they had, on multiple occasions, come home to Kristi asleep at the table, and they didn't want to wake her. She was a sweet girl, and their daughters definitely loved her... So why would they risk upsetting her? Susan & Tom really were too nice for their own good, but neither of them were aware of this, preferring to believe that everyone in the world could do with a bit of kindness. However, they were surprised to find a very much awake Kristi zipping around their kitchen, cleaning.
"Oh, hello Susan and Tom! I'm just cleaning up a bit from the evening, figured I'd make less of a hassle for you!" Kristi said cheerfully, quickly disposing of a now empty bottle of lemon-lime soda.
"Oh, Kristi, you don't have to do that! I have plenty of time to clean, dear..." Susan said, smiling widely at the consideration of their babysitter.
"Well that'd be just -hic- rude of me not to clean up after myself!" Kristi responded, trying her best not to belch in front of her employers.
"That's just nonsense!" Tom said boisterously, laughing heartily at Kristi's insistence. "It's our house, not yours... I don't want to find you cleaning it up again!" Tom said, in an overly exaggerated serious tone. Susan, Kristi and Tom all shared a laugh at that, while Kristi made her way back to the living room.
Susan and Tom shouted their goodbyes as Kristi walked down the small sidewalk away from the front door towards her car. As soon as the car had backed out into the street, Susan turned to Tom. "That Kristi is the best thing to happen to us lately, Tom. You know that, right?"
"Of course I do, sweetie!" Tom replied, kissing his wife quickly as he shut and locked the front door.
Neither of them mentioned the fact that Kristi was clearly getting chubby.
